51st Special BCS Exam Syllabus Published, All you need to know
The written MCQ examination may be held in November 2026 for the recruitment of 5,000 doctors.
The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has published the 51st Special BCS Exam Syllabus for the upcoming exam. The syllabus was published on the PSC website on Wednesday, September 30.
According to the notice, there will be no separate preliminary examination for this special BCS. Instead, candidates will take a 200-mark written examination with multiple-choice questions.
The written examination may be held in November 2026. However, the PSC has not announced the exact date and time yet. The schedule will be published later on the PSC website and through the media.
The MCQ-type written examination will contain 200 questions. Each correct answer will carry one mark. Candidates will lose 0.50 marks for every wrong answer.
The examination will include questions from several subjects. Bangla, English, Bangladesh Affairs, and International Affairs will carry 20 marks each.
Mental Ability will carry 10 marks, while Mathematical Reasoning will carry another 10 marks. The remaining 100 marks will cover subjects related to the respective cadre or post.
As this is a Special BCS examination, the written test will be held only at a centre in Dhaka. Candidates should follow the official PSC notice for any further instructions about the examination.
The oral examination will carry 100 marks. The PSC will use the written and oral examinations to select candidates for government health services.
Under the recruitment plan, 5,000 doctors will be appointed through this special BCS. Of them, 4,700 will join as Assistant Surgeons or Medical Officers.
The remaining 300 doctors will be appointed as Dental Surgeons. They are expected to work in government hospitals at upazila and union levels across Bangladesh.
PSC sources said the examination process would not be lengthy or complicated. Candidates may be selected through the 200-mark written examination and a 100-mark competency-based viva.
The recruitment plan aims to fill doctor shortages in government hospitals. The final appointment process will begin after the PSC completes the written and oral examinations.
The PSC will announce the detailed examination schedule on its website and through the media in due course.
