WhatsApp Android Is Getting a New Look With Meta AI in the Navigation Bar

WhatsApp is working on a redesigned navigation bar for its Android app, according to a new report. The change was spotted in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.26.38.10.

The early design gives the navigation bar a more oval shape. It also appears more transparent than the current version. The layout has similarities with WhatsApp’s navigation design on iOS, although the transparency is not the same.

One of the main changes is the possible addition of Meta AI to the navigation bar. In the current design, Meta AI appears as a floating button above the Compose button. The new design suggests that Meta AI could instead become part of the main navigation bar.

However, the images from the beta version do not show a final design. Meta AI appears in two different places in the images, which suggests that WhatsApp is still testing the layout. The company could make further changes before releasing the design widely.

The redesigned navigation bar is also expected to support dark mode. This means the new layout could adjust its appearance when users switch to WhatsApp’s dark theme.

The changes were found in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.26.38.10. The version is currently available to users who are part of the app’s beta programme.

For Android users, the redesign could make Meta AI easier to access from the main app interface. At the same time, the navigation changes could give WhatsApp a different look while bringing parts of its Android and iOS interfaces closer together.

There is no confirmed public release date for the redesigned navigation bar. Development is still ongoing, and the design may change before WhatsApp makes it available to all users.
