9th Pay Scale Gazette 2026 Published, Here's All You Need to Know

The government has officially issued the gazette for the 9th National Pay Scale for government employees. The new pay structure will raise basic salaries by 100% to 142%, depending on the grade.

The Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance issued the notification titled “Government Service (Pay and Allowances) Order, 2026.” The new structure will take effect from July 1, 2026.

The revised salaries will be introduced in three phases. Government employees will also receive arrears from the effective date of the new pay structure.

Salary increase to be implemented in phases

In the first phase, from July 1 to December 31, 2026, employees in Grades 9 and above will receive 40% of their increased basic pay. Employees in Grades 10 to 20 will receive 50%.

The amount will be added to the salaries drawn as of June 30, 2026.

In the second phase, from January 1 to June 30, 2027, employees in Grades 9 and above will receive 70% of the increased basic pay. Employees in Grades 10 to 20 will receive 75%.

The full revised basic salary will take effect from July 1, 2027.

However, the increased allowances under the new structure will be paid from January 1, 2028.

Grade 1 salary rises to Tk 1.56 lakh

The new system will keep the existing 20-grade structure. It provides relatively higher increases for employees in the lower grades.

Basic salaries for Grades 1 to 10 will double, representing a 100% increase.

For Grade 1 officials, the basic salary will rise from Tk 78,000 to Tk 1,56,000.

Employees in Grades 11 to 20 will receive increases of up to 142%. For Grade 20 employees, the basic salary will rise from Tk 8,250 to Tk 20,000.

Pensioners to receive full benefits

Existing government pensioners will also receive 100% of the benefits under the new pay structure.

The government is expected to spend an additional around Tk 1,05,000 crore annually to implement the new structure for about 2.4 million government employees and pensioners.

Gazette issued after legal vetting

The gazette was formally issued after the Finance Division obtained legal vetting from the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

The new pay structure will now be implemented according to the phases and dates set out in the gazette.
