Medical Admission Test 2027 May Be Held in December 1st Week

The medical and dental admission tests for the 2026–2027 academic year are likely to be held in the first week of December 2026. The Directorate General of Health Education (DGME) is expected to finalize the date next week after discussions with the Ministry of Health.

Professor Dr. Saki Md. Zakiul Alam, Director (Medical Education) of the DGME, told The Sun on Wednesday, September 2, that a tentative date has already been set. He said the final date would be known within the next few days if the ministry approves it.

According to ministry and DGME sources, preparations are underway to hold the admission tests in the first week of December. December 4, which falls on the first Friday of the month, is being considered as a possible date.

However, the December 4 date has not yet been finalized. The final decision will depend on discussions between the DGME and the Ministry of Health.

If December 4 is not selected, the medical and dental admission tests may be held on one of the Fridays during the University of Dhaka admission test period.

Professor Dr. Rubina Yasmin, Additional Director General (Medical Education) of the DGME, had said in August that the medical admission test is usually held in December. She noted that the examination was also held in December during the previous two years.

The University of Dhaka has already announced its admission test schedule for the 2026–27 academic year. Its admission tests will begin on December 5 and continue until December 26.

The IBA admission test is scheduled for December 5, followed by the Science Unit test on December 12. The Arts, Law and Social Sciences Unit test will be held on December 19, while the Fine Arts Unit test is scheduled for December 22 and the Business Studies Unit test for December 26.

The medical and dental admission tests are closely followed by students across Bangladesh because they mark the start of the annual admission process for these professional courses. Many students will also need to consider the medical test schedule alongside university admission tests.

The DGME and the Ministry of Health are now expected to complete discussions before announcing the final admission test date. Until official approval is given, December 4 should be treated only as a possible date.
