Oppo ColorOS 17 launched with new design and AI features

Oppo has launched ColorOS 17, its latest Android 17-based software update. The new version introduces a redesigned “Fluid Design” interface, new AI tools and several performance-focused changes.

Oppo has also announced the initial stable rollout schedule for ColorOS 17 in China. The first batch of supported devices is set to receive the update from October 8.

Oppo ColorOS 17 brings a new Fluid Design

ColorOS 17 brings Android 17 features to supported Oppo, OnePlus and Realme smartphones, tablets and other devices. The new software also introduces Oppo's “Fluid Design” visual language.

The update adds the Polar Light Engine and Fusion Rendering Architecture. Oppo says these technologies are designed to improve system performance and make everyday interactions smoother.

According to Oppo, the Polar Light Engine can reduce app start-up time and runtime memory usage by about 25 percent. It can also reduce the rendering workload by about 30 percent.

The software also includes the next-generation Tidal Engine. Oppo says it uses personalised scheduling to improve background app stability by about 55.6 percent.

New AI features arrive with ColorOS 17

ColorOS 17 also brings several new AI-powered features under OppoAI. The update includes the next-generation Xiaobu AI assistant and a dedicated Xiaobu Space.

Other additions include Xiaobu Calls, Xiaobu and Me, and Xiaobu Memory. The latter provides an AI-based one-click memory feature for users.

For photography, ColorOS 17 introduces AI Retoucher. The feature is designed to provide AI-based editing tools for photos.

The redesigned AI Notes app also gets new features. These include One-Tap Sharing and Inspiration Cards, giving users additional ways to manage and use notes.

ColorOS 17 rollout schedule

Oppo has announced the following initial stable rollout schedule in China:

The initial schedule is for China, so the timing should not be treated as an India-specific rollout date. Current reporting also confirms that the October 8 rollout covers the Oppo Find X9 series, OnePlus 15 and Realme GT 8 Pro.

Find X10 and OnePlus 16 to get ColorOS 17 out of the box

Oppo Find X10 series and OnePlus 16 are set to be among the first devices to run ColorOS 17 out of the box. This means users will not need to wait for a software update on those devices.

The Find X10 series is scheduled to launch in China with ColorOS 17, while the OnePlus 16 will also ship with the new software.

Oppo claims long-term performance

Oppo says ColorOS 17 is designed to maintain smooth performance across its ecosystem even after six years of use. The company also plans to bring the software to the Oppo Watch S2.

On the smartwatch, ColorOS 17 introduces the FatMax “SuperFat Burning” mode. Oppo says the software is designed to provide a similarly fluid experience across supported wearables.

For Indian users, the key point is that the announced dates currently relate to the China rollout. The availability and timing of ColorOS 17 can vary by market and device.
