SSC Answer Script Errors: 1,684 Examiners Face Two-Year Ban

The Jashore Education Board plans to bar 1,684 chief examiners and examiners from evaluating public examination answer scripts for two years. The decision follows errors found in SSC answer script evaluation.

The errors led to changes in the results of 2,436 students after re-scrutiny. Among them, 380 students who had failed in the original results later passed the examination. The grades of another 1,304 students also changed.

A total of 752 students newly achieved GPA-5 after their answer scripts were reviewed. Jashore Education Board Controller of Examinations Professor S. M. Hossain Ali confirmed the matter to the media on Tuesday night.

He said the board gives the highest priority to publishing accurate examination results. He also said examiners responsible for such mistakes would not be given SSC answer script evaluation duties for the next two years.

However, the final decision will be taken after a meeting of the board's disciplinary committee.

2,436 Students See Result Changes

According to board sources, the original SSC results were published on August 10. Students were then allowed to apply for re-scrutiny for seven days from the following day.

During that period, 28,862 of the board's 88,097 passed students applied for re-scrutiny. Their applications covered a total of 74,717 answer scripts.

The review later found changes in the results of 2,436 examinees. Of these, 380 students moved from failing to passing.

The grades of 1,304 students also changed. In addition, 752 students who did not previously have GPA-5 newly achieved the highest grade point after the review.

Examiners Identified After Review

The board reviewed the cases where students' results changed after re-scrutiny. It then identified examiners who were found to have made mistakes or shown negligence during answer script evaluation.

A total of 1,684 chief examiners and examiners have been listed in the process. The board plans to prevent them from evaluating answer scripts in public examinations for the next two years.

The board has said that the disciplinary decision will be formally finalized after the relevant committee meeting. The next steps will depend on that decision.
