A total of 183,366 students applied in the second phase of Class XI admission in Bangladesh for the 2026–27 academic year.

The Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee opened the second phase for students who missed the first phase. Class XI is the first year of higher secondary study after SSC.

Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, chairman of the committee and chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, confirmed the figures to The Sun around 9:30 pm on Thursday, October 1.

He said the board wanted to bring all eligible students under the admission process. For this reason, the second-phase application deadline was extended by two days.

“We want to ensure admission for all students,” he said. He added that applications were accepted until 8:00 pm on Thursday.

According to the board data, 1,144,695 students passed the SSC and equivalent examinations this year. They came from nine general education boards, the Madrasah Education Board, and the Technical Education Board.

In the first phase, 834,718 students applied online for Class XI admission. That left 309,977 students outside the first-phase process.

Among them, 74,470 students were from the Technical Education Board. These students are admitted separately under that board.

After excluding them, 235,570 students remained outside the first-phase college and madrasa admission process. Of them, 188,116 students did not apply at all. Another 47,454 applied but did not confirm their admission applications.

The second and final phase was opened mainly for these students. In this phase, 183,366 students submitted applications.

However, 52,204 SSC pass students have still not applied for Class XI admission through the central process.

Officials said many of these students may have joined missionary institutions. These include Notre Dame, Holy Cross, and St. Joseph, where about 10,000 to 12,000 students received admission opportunities.

Professor Akhtaruzzaman said details on second-phase results, confirmation, migration, and final admission would be published soon on the central Class XI admission website.
