49th BCS Final Gazette Published, 57 Candidates Excluded

The final gazette of the 49th BCS (Special) Examination has been published. A total of 611 candidates have been appointed to posts in the BCS General Education Cadre. The gazette was published on Wednesday, September 30. It does not include the names of 57 candidates who were named earlier.

The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) had named 668 candidates in its final results. They were selected against 683 vacant posts in the BCS General Education Cadre. The PSC did not state why 57 names were later left out of the gazette.

Earlier final results

After later checks, the final gazette named 611 candidates. They were appointed to entry-level posts in the BCS General Education Cadre.

PSC notice on appointments

The PSC notice said the appointments followed its recommendation. It referred to a memo dated November 27, 2025. The notice named 611 candidates for entry-level posts.

The posts have a pay scale of Tk 44,000 to Tk 105,900. The scale is based on the National Pay Scale, 2026. The notice said the appointments are subject to stated conditions.

Candidates react to exclusion

The exclusion of 57 names has caused anger among some candidates. Dhaka University student Sohel Rana also reacted to the development.

Rana is a student of the university's History Department. He wrote on Facebook that he had been deprived of the gazette. He said this happened even though he stood first in the 49th BCS Education Cadre.

The information provided says Rana secured first place in the merit ranking. His reaction came after the gazette was published.

The final gazette confirms the appointment of 611 candidates. It does not state why the other 57 names were excluded.
