Bangladesh will publish the gazette for 46 excluded candidates from the 49th BCS (Special) Education Cadre on Monday, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said on Thursday.

He made the announcement at a press briefing at his office in the afternoon. The update concerns candidates who were not included in an earlier gazette after the final selection process.

The Home Minister said 665 candidates had been declared successful by the Public Service Commission. Of them, eight candidates failed the medical examination, leaving 657 candidates.

He said the notification is being issued in several phases. He also said no candidate would face discrimination because of political identity.

“No kind of discrimination will be made against anyone because of their political identity. The government has pledged to establish a discrimination-free society. No one will have to face discrimination because of their political identity. Some necessary procedures will be completed beforehand,” Salahuddin Ahmed said.

The Bangladesh Public Service Commission published the final results of the 49th BCS on November 11 last year. In that result, 668 candidates were provisionally nominated for appointment against 683 vacant posts in the BCS (General Education) Cadre.

Recently, the 49th BCS Final Gazette was published on Septmeber 30, 2026. A total of 57 candidates was excluded.

The PSC said it could not nominate candidates for 15 posts because no eligible candidates were found. Later, after verification and other procedures, the appointment of 611 candidates was published in the final gazette.

PSC Public Relations Officer S. M. Matiur Rahman said the PSC recommends candidates, but the Ministry of Public Administration makes the appointment.

“The PSC is the recommending authority, while the Ministry of Public Administration is the appointing authority. The Ministry of Public Administration appoints eligible candidates after completing all verification and scrutiny processes. The decision of the Ministry of Public Administration regarding the appointment is final,” he said.

The issue matters because BCS appointments are closely followed by job seekers and education-sector candidates in Bangladesh. For Indian readers, it also gives a clear view of how public service appointments in Bangladesh move through recommendation, verification, and final gazette publication.
