BUET Admission Test 2027 Set for 16 January

The Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) will hold its undergraduate admission test on January 16, 2027. The test is for the 2026-2027 academic year.

BUET announced the date in a notice issued on Monday, September 7. The university’s Academic Council made the final decision at a meeting on Sunday, September 6.

BUET will use only a written test to select eligible candidates this year. There will be no preliminary screening test. The same system was used for the 2025-26 academic year.

In the last admission cycle, BUET did not hold a preliminary screening test. Eligible students were selected through a written test. The university will follow the same system this year.

The notice did not give full details about the admission application process. It also did not state the full examination method. More details are expected in later official notices.

The BUET date comes as many universities have set their admission test dates. More than ten universities have already shared dates for the 2026-27 admission cycle.

The University of Dhaka, Khulna University and MIST will hold their tests in December 2026. These tests will take place before the BUET test.

Rajshahi University, Jagannath University, the University of Chittagong and Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) will hold tests in January and February 2027. Their dates are also part of the wider admission cycle for the new academic year.

For students who plan to apply to BUET, January 16 is now the key test date. They will need to follow BUET’s later notices for the application process and other exam details.
