BUTEX Admission Test 2027 Scheduled for January 29

Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) has announced the date for its BSc in Textile Engineering admission test for the 2026–2027 academic year. The BUTEX Admission test will be held on January 29, 2027.

The university announced the date in a press release signed by Registrar Professor Dr Rasheda Begum Dina on Tuesday, September 8. The date was finalized at a meeting of the Deans and Heads of Departments Committee held on Monday, September 7.

However, BUTEX has not yet finalized the admission eligibility criteria, GPA requirements, or application process. University administration sources said these details are still pending because the results of this year’s HSC and equivalent examinations have not yet been published.

BUTEX admission test for 630 seats

Bangladesh University of Textiles is the country’s only specialized public university dedicated to textile engineering. The university currently has 11 departments and offers a total of 630 seats through its admission test.

The five departments with the highest number of seats are Wet Process Engineering, Yarn Engineering, Fabric Engineering, Apparel Engineering, and Textile Engineering Management. Each department has 80 seats.

Textile Fashion and Design, Industrial and Production Engineering, Textile Machinery Design and Maintenance, Dyes and Chemicals Engineering, and Environmental Science and Engineering each have 40 seats. Textile Materials Engineering has 30 seats.

Eligibility and application details pending

For students planning to apply, the admission test date is the first confirmed part of the process. The university has not yet announced the other key admission details.

Applicants will need to wait for the official announcement on eligibility, GPA requirements, and the application process. These details are expected to be decided after the HSC and equivalent examination results are available.
