GST Admission Test 2027: 20 Universities to Stay in Cluster System

A total of 20 universities will remain in the GST cluster admission system for the 2026–2027 academic session, according to the vice-chancellor of Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU). The decision on the admission test date will be taken today, Friday (September 11). 

Professor Dr. Golam Rabbani, vice-chancellor of NSTU, said the core committee of the 20 universities will meet in Dhaka today, Friday, September 11. The meeting will discuss arrangements for the next cluster admission test.

A key decision will be which university will conduct the next admission test. The exam date is expected to be set after the meeting.

Professor Rabbani gave the information in an exclusive interview with the media on Thursday, September 10.

“There are still 20 universities in the cluster admission examination,” Professor Rabbani said. He added that the vice-chancellors of these universities form the core committee for the admission system.

The admission process for the 2025–26 academic session was completed on July 30, according to the NSTU vice-chancellor. He said the committee had not held another meeting during the following month.

The vice-chancellor said the next meeting would help the universities move forward with the new admission process. Another meeting may also be held under the leadership of the university selected to conduct the test.

No university has decided to leave

Professor Rabbani said he had not heard of any university leaving the GST system.

“There are still 20 universities in the cluster system,” he said. He added that the government and the ministry have instructed the universities to remain in the system.

He also said no university had taken a decision to leave the cluster admission system.

Exam date to be decided soon

The GST Admission test 2027 for the 2026–27 academic session has not yet received a date, according to the information provided by the NSTU vice-chancellor.

“We hope that we will be able to make a decision soon,” Professor Rabbani said. He added that the details would become clear after the committee meeting.

The universities also want to reduce the time gap between the GST admission process and academic activities. Professor Rabbani said the 2025–26 admission test was held on time, allowing academic activities to begin earlier.

He said classes at the universities had already been running for about one and a half months after the previous admission process.

The vice-chancellor said major universities had already announced dates for their admission activities. The GST universities now plan to complete their admission test soon after those activities begin.

20 universities in the GST system

The 20 universities currently in the GST cluster system are Islamic University, Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University, Patuakhali Science and Technology University, Noakhali Science and Technology University, Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Jashore University of Science and Technology, and Pabna University of Science and Technology.

The list also includes Begum Rokeya University, Gopalganj Science and Technology University, University of Barishal, Rangamati University of Science and Technology, Rabindra University, University of Frontier Technology, Netrokona University, and Jamalpur University of Science and Technology.

The remaining universities are Chandpur University of Science and Technology, Kishoreganj University, Sunamganj University of Science and Technology, Pirojpur University of Science and Technology, and Naogaon University.

The next major step is the core committee meeting on September 11. The university responsible for conducting the next test and the examination date are expected to be decided through the next round of discussions.
