Professor Kamrul Ahsan Removed as Jahangirnagar University VC
He has been allowed to return to his substantive post as a professor in the Department of Philosophy.
Professor Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan has been relieved of his duties as the Vice-Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University (JU).
The decision was disclosed in a notification issued by the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education on Saturday, September 26. The notification was signed by Md. Sultan Ahmed, Assistant Secretary of the division.

According to the notification, the decision was made with the approval of the President and Chancellor. Dr. Kamrul Ahsan was appointed Vice-Chancellor under Section 11(2) of the Jahangirnagar University Order, 1973.
The notification said he was relieved of the Vice-Chancellor's position under condition (e) of a notification issued by the Secondary and Higher Education Division on September 5, 2024.
At the same time, Dr. Kamrul Ahsan has been permitted to return to his substantive post at Jahangirnagar University. He will rejoin the Department of Philosophy as a professor.
The ministry notification therefore confirms both changes to his position at the university. It removes him from the Vice-Chancellor's post and allows him to resume his teaching position.
The notification was issued by the Secondary and Higher Education Division on September 26. Further developments regarding the university's administration will depend on subsequent official decisions.
