Dhaka Central University Students Launch Protest Against New VC

Students of Dhaka Central University staged a sit-in at the Science Lab in Dhaka on Sunday. They rejected the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lutfar Rahman. The students marched from Dhaka College before starting the protest.

The students said they do not accept the new VC. They also opposed several decisions by the Dhaka University administration. The protesters carried red cards during the march and sit-in.

The march began at Dhaka College on Sunday, September 27. It reached the Science Lab, where the procession turned into a sit-in protest. Students then raised slogans against the VC and the administration.

The protesters chanted, “We do not accept the VC, and we never will.” They also chanted, “Direct action against the syndicate.” The students said they would continue their movement until their demands are met.

The students claimed that the new VC was appointed without enough importance being given to their views. They said they would not accept the appointment. They also said they do not want anyone from Dhaka University to become the VC.

The students said the administration of Dhaka University had caused them uncertainty and trouble. They said the university should appoint someone who has worked with students. They also want a person who has supported student interests to lead the university.

The protest caused a tense situation in the Science Lab area. Members of law enforcement agencies were present there to maintain law and order.

The students said they would continue their movement until their demands are met.
